Filming during COVID-19

In these trying times we feel that it is important for businesses to keep producing content, however, the safety of our clients and our crew is what is most important to us. Which is why we have been working on ways that we can that we can keep producing videos for you while staying safe.

So here is an outline of the precautions that we have put in place to keep everyone safe.

Safety measures before shoot

As you may know if you have had videos made for you before, there is a lot of planning that goes into it before the filming day, some of the planning and preparation may require you to come into the office for a chat, or if the shoot will be held on location, we will be required to carry out a recce.  Take a look here why it's important to do a recce.

As an alternative to our usual in person discovery meeting, we can have a virtual session with you via Zoom, or another video calling platform.

When filming on location we will still have to perform a recce to determine whether or not we can film safely and what equipment we can use etc. Only one scout or location manager, wearing a mask, should perform this task. They will make sure so far as possible to interact with only one person responsible for the location.

Safety measures during shoot

When it comes to the day of filming, to help us keep everyone safe, we will:

  • keep the number of crew present to an absolute minimum (with a one-man crew being available for much smaller projects)
  • bring a longer lens in order to keep a 2m distance wherever possible
  • where required, request masks are worn depending on distancing and ventilation
  • wipe all camera equipment with disinfectant before and after use
  • take everyone’s temperature with a non-contact thermometer before filming
  • register all personnel present at the shoot with their relevant contact information

Safety measures for props and actors

To keep in line with the social distancing measures, actors will be required to attach their own microphones and do their own make up with direction from a crew member. In addition to this, any scenes that require people to be in close contact will be limited to 15 minutes.

Also, if there are any props required, they will be personal to the person using them and will be disinfected before and after use.

Of course, if you don’t want to or feel uncomfortable with filming a video at the moment, we can always look at making an animation video for you, this would require zero face to face contact. We understand that this may all seem a bit daunting, if you are interested in having a video made then please feel free to contact us, we are happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Feel free to take a look at some of the work that we have done using these safety measures.
