Business Television
WHAT IS BUSINESS TELEVISION?
Business
Television is the production and distribution of corporate
communications using either satellite or the world wide web.
It is generally live and interactive television where the
programme is transmitted from either a studio or location
to a national or international audience who are then able
to contribute to the programme by telephone, email, webcam
or even another live video link back to the studio hub. The
advantage of this medium is that the entire audience receives
the same information at the same time. The applications are
too numerous to mention but have included major product launches,
financial results, press releases, and training. The potential
audience size is unlimited and can be world wide with instant
feedback on the effectiveness of the programme.
HOW COST EFFECTIVE IS
BUSINESS TELEVISION?
Business Television can be used to provide opportunities to
consolidate existing strategies and to initiate new management
concepts. It can also be a highly cost effective alternative
to holding a meeting. In a direct comparison between hosting
a one day national sales conference based at a central London
hotel for 120 delegates with that of a satellite delivered
BTV programme from the companys HQ to 10 European sites,
the BTV programme cost less than a third of the cost of the
Central London meeting, plus less time is lost through travel
to and from the venue. Cost can be reduced even more and effectiveness
increased by transmitting the programme on the web; this means
that your audience need not even leave their work space as
the programme is delivered directly to their desktop computer.
HOW CAN BUSINESS TELEVISION
BE USED?
It can be as simple as your CEOs message using a single
camera from the company boardroom to a full blown product
launch complete with all the bells and whistles. Theres
no need to be concerned by the technology - our aim is to
remove all the technicalities to allow you to concentrate
on the important issue of the messages that you want to impart
to your audience.
The many benefits offered
by BTV speak for themselves:
Enhanced company / customer awareness
Dissemination of the same message at the same time
Instant feedback on the effectiveness of your message
Greater employee commitment and motivation
Interactive training with subject matter experts
Greater customer awareness of your products and services
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN BUSINESS TELEVISION AND WEB CASTING?
Essentially they are the same production except the delivery
system is different. Business Television is broadcast television
transmitted either via microwave or, more commonly, using
satellites to transmit the programme to downlinks similar
to domestic satellite TV. For a webcast the programme is encoded,
datastreamed and sent to desktop computers via the World Wide
Web. The programme can be watched live whilst being webstreamed
or can be stored on a server for later video on demand. Both
media can be live and interactive with the viewing audience.
The general picture quality is better using satellite TV but
is also more expensive as receive centres may have to be installed
to watch the programme, this also gives a higher degree of
security as programmes can be encrypted to prevent its illegal
reception.
