    MUSIC FOR VIDEO

Choosing music can be a very time consuming activity, and you know it’s always personal – what one person likes another hates, in face we’ve learnt to ask our clients for samples of music styles they don’t like because at least then we know what to avoid at the outside!

Music plays a vital part in most video productions, yet it is also an area that creates many headaches for producers – mainly because the legalities of copyright can be difficult to understand.

Our best resource at the moment is a company called Sky Rocket Music and AKM Music – both have been set up with a view to making it easier for producers to obtain and legally use music – they are both a breath of fresh air to the industry. CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT SUMMIT 2012

Video and social media are going to play an increased and more important role in good customer/employee engagement. Although it’s not the same as a true face to face encounter, it’s pretty close and does provide more impact than the written word alone. One client said they had found video to be a really powerful tool when gathering customer comments, just seeing and hearing the customer talk about why they had been disappointed with a service and perhaps even left a company was so much more memorable and thought provoking than just the bare statistics.

NEW ITV PLAYER MAKES ARCHIVE MATERIALS AVAILABLE

New catch up TV service from ITV brings to light changes in our cultural use of television; people are more and more frequently not watching television as it is transmitted but rather choosing to watch later when convenient to them. The ability to ditch the commercials along with the irritating postcard reviews of what we’ve already seen and what we’re going too see, is also a great bonus. However, it is also indicative of a real change in the way we want to receive television programming, when convenient – and also where convenience. Interesting times ahead.
